Supreme Champion Sonree Trouble No More 'Daisy'

So much to catch you all up on......

Liza and Lara had their litters 8 days apart in May 2010, from 2-3 weeks of age they shared mothering duties of all the puppies between them. These pictures show Lara on duty while Liza takes a break.

The last time I posted was in March after the Casino shows, where does all the time go?
April was a relatively quiet month showing, we did however travel to Macksville for the Nambucca Agricultural show where our Harry was awarded Best in the Hound Group and Junior exhibit in Show, Daisy and Angel won their classes in Group but did not go any further on the day.
The 4 Grafton shows were next, with Daisy Runner up to Best in Group at the Maclean Ag.show and the rest of the shows Daisy and Angel were awarded their age classes in group. Bonville was next on our schedule and what a joy that one was for us. Daisy went Runner up to Best in group and Intermediate in Show on the first day, then was awarded Best in Group,Runner up to Best in Show and Intermediate in show on the following 2 days. The Regions shows were next and what dreadful weather we had that weekend, cold, rain, wind and mud. My friend Meg who has Wire Haired Dachshunds and I, and no doubt the dogs as well, although they didn't complain as much as we did, had had enough after the first 2 days so we didn't stay for the Sunday show. Sunday the sun came out we were told, but there was still mud!
Kyogle Kennel Clubs Judges were also good to Daisy where she was awarded 2 Best in groups, 2 Intermediate in show and 1 Runner up to Best in Group over the weekend.
Lismore 3 shows judges were certainly not Daisy's fans and she was not awarded a challenge over the 3 days, Angel beat her first up, then our waggly tail Lucy won on the second day and the third bitch challenge went to a friend Robyn's bitch which was nice. Harry was awarded the dog challenge and Best of Breed at 2 of the shows and the junior class in group. Our Meg's 'Max' Wire haired dachie was awarded Australian Bred in Show at the Sunday show, good on you Max!
Now for some home news... We had 2 litters born in May, the first was our Liza who had 2 boys and 2 girls, 8 days later Lara had 6 babies, 5 boys and 1 girl the father of both litters our "Harry". They are all beautiful babies and the Mum's have done well raising them, the past couple of weeks they have shared all of their babies between them. What wonderful temperaments these puppies have and what a joy it has been for us having them here. Liza's puppies are all sold and going to wonderful homes shortly. Lara's boys we still have to sell, most purchses prefer females I can never understand why, as when the time comes and I am down to 1 pet again(heaven forbid!) it will be a male, I just adore my boys. Until next time, whenever that might be..........Kind regards to all, Virginia

Pokie Little Puppy

This is 'Pokie' from a recent litter who now lives in a loving home with his new owners Julian and Mili.

Dear Virginia and Lyle,
Just wanted to let you know that our little Pokie is the cutest little boy and is loved by everyone that lays eyes on him. He has been a blessing and we have loved every minute with him. What is most pleasing is his excellent behaviour and temperament.
and from day one he has been going to the toilet on his newspapers, with only a few accidents. He is also just starting to find his voice which is quite amusing.

Millie's travels

Millie and family have been travelling around Australia and they have sent me a few photos of Millie enjoying the scenery.
Just look at Millie run and the dust trail she is stirring up behind her, it sometimes surprises people just how fast Dachshunds can run!

The weekend's shows

We have had another good weekend showing at Casino & District K.C. Shows, it was not far to travel as it is the closest venue to us, just half an hour away
Our beautiful bitch Daisy once again did herself and us proud winning Best in the Hound Group and Best Intermediate in the Group on both days, adding another 50 points towards the still distant Grand championship title.
Harry was awarded the dog challenge and runner up to Best of Breed at the Sunday show and also awarded Junior in the Hound group.
Lucy, yes that's right I do mean Lyle's pet, well what about this, she was the reserve bitch to Daisy today and also the Best puppy in group. I'm sorry to say I can take no credit for this achievement as I asked a friend to show her, yesterday we did the jelly thing again.
It was a bit mean of me giving her to someone else to show, Lucy was so confused as to what was going on, she went really well and forgot to be happy. I don't think I will do that to her again, I will only show her very sparingly as it would be a shame to spoil her love for people, shows, outings, and all of life in general..The Dachshunds did very well today under Judge Mrs A. Lane from Victoria, 5 of the 7 awards on offer in the hound group went to Dachshunds, our 3 and the minor puppy was a miniature long haired and the Australian bred was a STD smooth haired, as I've mentioned before this does not happen often.
All in all it was a pleasant weekend with a great group of friends with several different Breeds.
I must give special mention to our friend Carla's Basenji's 'Taro' who gained his Grand Championship title on Saturday, something to be very proud of, our congratulations to them.
We had the joy of having a new friend join us on the weekend, Elke who has a couple of lovely miniature wire haired dachshunds, they are only babies yet and I'm sure she will have a lot of fun showing them.
For those who may have picked up on it, yes our baby Elke was named after Elke with the wires.
I first met Elke late last year not long after Abbie's litter was born, and I'm sorry to say I kept calling her Inga , so to get her name into my head I asked if she would mind if I called the new baby girl after her. Now everyone is totally confused( well not me) including the two Elkes as to I am speaking of/to.
Bye for now, I hope to get a photo up soon of Angel who is to stay here, and her sister Bindi who will be leaving us on Wednesday for her new show home on the south coast of NSW.........Virginia

2009, what a good year it was .

I am new to this' blogging' but I had to tell you about our 2009.
Our beautiful girl "Daisy" Ch.Sonree Trouble No More was awarded both a Best in Show and a Runner up to Best in Show along with many other awards throughout the year. She is well on her way to her grand Championship title, one mustn't count our chickens though.
Then along came 'Harry" Ch. Sonree Kiwi Ariki , Harry was awarded his first Best in Show at 9 months of age ( hopefully there may be more?). This is quite an achievement for our little Dachshunds as there are so many beautiful and perhaps one may consider more glamorous dogs in the show ring.
We had a couple of litters and have kept "Lucy' Sonree Time to Dance who is known as Lyle's pet. Lucy was sold as a pet and returned to us after 3 weeks " I didn't realise how much work a puppy could be" we had several inquiries from prospective purchases for her, but he who complains about dogs would not hear of selling her. I will persevere again this year with Lucy but training her to show may be beyond me, she is such a happy little girl with the most amazing friendly temperament, when the judges approach her to examine her she goes to jelly, tail wagging furiously and tries to lick them, not your usual aloof hound in the ring, well she was born on April 1st!
Then we also have our dear little "Elke" from the same bloodlines that produced Harry. Elke is absolutely bombproof! She has to be as the other younger relatives give her hell, she takes it all and then gives them some back. She is the sweetest little girl , whether she will be a show girl remains to be seen, her bloodlines are very special to us in any case.
The third litter of 2009 born in December has just begun to leave and but of course there is another who is staying! Angel ( Sonree The Trouble with Angels) her Dam is our Daisy's mother Sonree Trouble in Mind(Sally) , her sire is Harry , this is the first litter he has sired and we were so pleased with the quality of all the puppies. Angel will do her first show in March, she is so pretty.

I have only attended 5 shows to date this year with Harry and Daisy sharing the Best of Breed awards between them, we don't have many shows in this area in the summer months thankfully, so it has given us more time to sit and enjoy our family, friends and our beloved dachshunds.
kind regards, Virginia
